Thanks to these conditions, herbs in Bulgaria thrive both without special cultivation and are grown on farms. According to some sources, their number is about 3,600 species. Some of the most common medicinal plants are Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum), Thymus (Thymus), Chamomile (Matricaria), Sumac (Cotinus), Wormwood (Artemisia) and many others. Both herbal teas and decoctions, medicinal tinctures and even compresses can be prepared from them.An interesting fact is that in Bulgaria there is an established herb day - June 24 - the so-called "Enyovday".
