In 1879, the forester Konstantin Baikushev found and described this incredible specimen for the first time. Thanks to this fact, "Baikusheva mura" is the oldest coniferous tree in Bulgaria and one of the oldest in the world. The story related to the name of the tree is also interesting. Most of us are under the impression that the age-old mulberry is named after its discoverer, but that's not exactly the case. When Yonko Vaptsarov (a famous Bulgarian hero and father of the Bulgarian poet Nikola Vaptsarov) was taking tourists to the area by accident or not, he named it the wall of "Baikushev" and since then it has become popular with this name.
