Bulgaria has 39 mountains. Among the most visited in the country are Rila, Rodopi, Pirin, Stara planina, Strandzha and Vitosha. Here are some interesting facts:
- The highest peak in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula is in Rila (Pt. Musala - 2925 m.a.s.l.).
- Pirin National Park is included in the UNESCO list.
- Stara Planina stretches from one end of Bulgaria (the border with Serbia) to the Black Sea. Every year a hiking mountain hike is held along its entire length from Mount Kom to Cape Emine.
- The Rhodopes and Strandzha are mountains rich in many legends from ancient times, mysticism and rituals. Some of the most numerous Thracian, ancient sanctuaries and objects were discovered on their territory.

# 1 Rila - The Seven Rila Lakes
The seven Rila lakes are a lake group of glacial origin. They are located in the Northwestern Rila mountain stepwise from 2100 to 2550 m above sea level. c. Each of the lakes bears its name from the peculiarity of its shape or even depth - "The Tear" (the highest), "The Eye", "The Kidney", "The Twin", "The Shamrock", "The Fish Lake" and "The Lower lake" (the lowest).
Important: This is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the mountains in our country! The best season to admire their beauty is summer and early autumn! The area is accessible by elevator!
# 2 Rhodopes - The Chair Lakes
The Chair Lakes are a group of seven lakes and are located in the Western Rhodopes near Trigrad. They were formed as a result of a landslide processes over the Chairska river. An interesting fact is also the origin of the name from the Turkish language - "chair" which means meadow.
From here you can go to the following interesting sites such as the "Devil's Throat", "Yagodin cave" и "Trigrad Gorge".
# 3 Pirin - Banderishki Lakes
The Banderish Lakes are located in the so-called "Banderish Circus" in the central part of the Pirin Mountain and are one of the most popular routes in the Pirin National Park. About 16 in number (from 2060 to 2320 m above sea level) and of glacial origin, among the most visited of them are "Long Lake", "Frog Lake" (the highest), "Fish Lake Banderish Lake" (the deepest), "Muratovo Lake" and "Eye Lake" (the lowest). The other lakes do not have their own names. The starting points for hikes to the lakes can be Vihren hut, Demyanitsa hut or Sinanitsa hut.
Important: Our recommendation to you is to start your tour of the lakes from the Vihren hut by first visiting the "Eye", then head to the "Fish", "Long" and "Frog" and finish your walk with the "Murat". The route is circular and very pleasant. The hike will take you about 3 hours at a steady pace with time for breaks.
# 4 Eastern Stara Planina - Nature Park "Blue Stones"
"Blue Stones" Nature Park was established in 1980 in the eastern part of the Balkan Mountain. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the town of Sliven, which is known as the town of the "100 Voyvods". The territory of the park includes a number of interesting localities and natural sights such as "Karandila", "Bulgarka" peak, "Archangela", "Barmuk bair", "Haidushka trail", "Hulkata", etc. An interesting fact is that its name "Blue Stones" comes from a rock massif that was formed by the impact of erosion processes.
Important: Our recommendation to you is to head to the locality "Karandila" from which a wonderful panorama of the town of Sliven and the Sliven field is revealed. If you wish, besides the interesting hiking trails, you can also visit the town, famous for the "khaidushka movement" and its museums.
